Top Movie Action Figures

Movie action figures are some of the most detailed “toys” you can find on the Internet today. Often manufactured in larger scales compared to more mainstream products, the sizes of these toys allow extremely accurate levels of detail and articulation. Many of these toys look quite realistic, as the sculpting of hair, facial contours and expressions, and limbs is well-executed. The weapons, clothes, and other accessories that some of these toys come with are accurate replicas of their real-world counterparts. Some of the most memorable Hollywood movies such as the Godfather trilogy and Alien series have given rise to a wide range of in-demand collectible figures for the adult movie buff and toy collector alike.

Terminator movie action figures have dominated the collector toy market since the 80s, with busts, figures, and accessories that come from the storyline. The latest movie release, Terminator: Salvation, brings the 12-inch Terminator T-600 figure, a collectible robot soldier who figures in Skynet’s final attack on humankind. The cyborg comes in 1:6 scale and stands 14 inches high. The toy has more than 25 points of articulation for great action poses, and has ominous battery-operated eyes that light up. The Terminator T-600 figure also comes with a harnessed ammunition pack and detailed Gatling gun, and a base/diorama featuring the logo for Terminator: Salvation.

G.I. Joe has also become part of the action figure explosion, with toys for the younger set and collectibles for older fans. The intricate Storm Shadow 12-inch figure has over 30 points of movement, an entire outfit including a ninja mask, vest, pants, boots, and gloves. The movie action figure also comes well armed with multiple swords, a bow and arrow, quiver, and shuriken.

Star Wars Action Figures

1978 saw the release of the initial Star Wars movie trilogy, which was succeeded after two decades by a similarly successful “prequel” trilogy. Along with other merchandise accompanying the first movie was the highly successful series of Star Wars action figures. Kenner manufactured the first sets of 3 ¾-inch toys, which paved the way for a constant stream of action figures based on the movies, books, and cartoons they had spawned.

Thirty years after the first movie toys, some of the surviving relics from that year are now valuable commodities, almost regardless of condition. Adult collectors all around the world deem these Star Wars action figures priceless, and rightly so – some now fetch astronomical prices.

1978’s Darth Vader with Telescoping Lightsaber is the priciest figure of them all. The toy came with a built-in feature, which allowed part of the character’s plastic lightsaber to extend from within the hollow area in the toy’s arm, after which a thinner piece of plastic for the remaining length of the saber also emerged. The engineering of this toy was quite frail, rendering the feature easily broken, especially with the ministrations of younger fans. The next wave saw a sturdier variant of the figure, which had the extending lightsaber made in one piece. Other figures that had this feature were the Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi characters. The initial version of Darth Vader with Telescoping Lightsaber is worth $6,000 on average.

Other sought-after figures include the Jawa with Cloth Cape, released in the same year, and the Rocket-firing Boba Fett from 1980. These figures are now worth $2,000 each.

Spiderman Action Figures

Spiderman action figures have been one of the favorite toys of boys and girls through the years. These kinds of toys are usually preferred by boys but girls may also be interested in them if the superhero has been featured in a film. Of course, some adults are also interested in these kinds of toys because they are regarded as collectibles. Fans of this superhero may also buy these toys every time something new appears in the market.

Spiderman has become one of the most commercially successful superheros, especially after the successes of the first three films in the Spider-Man movie series. Part three of the series was shown in 2007 and the fourth movie is scheduled to be released in 2011.

Because the concept of the story is an ordinary person gaining super powers, Spiderman action figures have become very popular. Perhaps another reason for the commercial success of Spiderman is that he is portrayed as an ordinary person who has his own flaws and everyday problems.

There is a wide variety of Spiderman action figures to choose from. Most of these toys feature his usual red and blue costume. However, others show him wearing armor while others show him wearing his black costume, which was featured in the third Spiderman movie. Related toys feature some of the supporting characters and his enemies. Some of his enemies are Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Venom, Lizard, Chameleon, Hobgoblin, Carnage, Kraven the Hunter, Scorpion, Sandman, Rhino, Mysterio, Electro, Vulture, Shocker, Hydro-Man, Kingpin, and Morlun.

Naruto Action Figures

Naruto action figures are based on the fictional character Naruto Uzumaki who is the main protagonist in the Naruto anime franchise. This character was created by Masashi Kishimoto who incorporated several traits into him that include many of the characteristics of Goku, who was the protagonist in the Dragon Ball franchise. In the story, Naruto’s father sealed the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox in the body of Naruto shortly after he was born. His father dies as a result of this event. The villagers do not like him because of the demon fox that has been sealed in his body.

Naruto is a ninja and because of the demon fox inside him, he is able to make use of its huge reserves of chakra. This ability permits him to perform extraordinary ninja feats. He usually mixes the fox’s chakra with his own and he could do this at will by allowing his anger to get the better of him. He can also ask the fox to provide him with some of its strength. His two closes friends are his teammates Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha. Unfortunately, Sasuke betrays him later and joins his enemy, the Orochimaru.

Naruto action figures are popular among anime and manga fans. Of course, some collectors have also become interested in these kinds of toys as investments. Examples of Naruto action figures are the Shippuden Rasengan Edition of 2009, the Pakkun Limited Edition, and the Shippuden Basic Figure Collection Series. The collection features Naruto and some of his fellow ninjas on Team Kakashi.

Justice League Action Figures

Justice League Action Figure

Justice League action figures have been one of the favorite toys of boys for years although adults have now become interested in them as collectibles. Thus, some of these toys have been designed mainly for collectors and are therefore packaged attractively and the design and details of the action figure are specifically intended for display.

The Justice League is a team made up of several superheros. The original composition of the team that first appeared in 1960 included Batman, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Martian Hunter and Green Lantern! However, the members of the team were slightly modified through the years. In the Justice League Unlimited animated television series, the team has a much bigger membership although the acknowledged founding members are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern and Hawkgirl.

When shopping for Justice League action figures, you will discover that the superheros and super villains are either sold separately or in groups. For example, you can find action figures featuring Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, Superman, Mister Miracle, Forager, and Batwoman. You may also find action figures featuring the enemies of the superheros. These include Killer Croc, Mantis, Darkseid, Lashina, Galatea, Lex Luthor, and others. Some packages combine a set of superheros and may even include some super villains.

When choosing Justice League action figures, some of the things to consider are articulation and accessories. The points of articulation are the joints that allow movement, such a turning head, bending knees, rotating wrists, and a swiveling waist. Meanwhile, some of these toys may be provided with accessories, such as guns and other weapons.

Top Halo Action Figures

Halo, the blockbuster sci-fi video game trilogy from computer giant Microsoft, is built around the story of Master Chief, a superhuman soldier whose already formidable abilities were enhanced by cybernetic means, such as the Mjolnir armor suit and the AI entity Cortana. Set in the distant future, Master Chief fights in humanity’s battle against the alliance of alien races called the Covenant.

Microsoft Game Studios has teamed up with Bungie to create the Halo franchise, which produces various kinds of merchandise, including Halo action figures. McFarlane Toys has developed the toy line since the inception of the first Halo installment, and continues to come up with highly-detailed and meticulously crafted action figures. These action figures are geared more towards the adult collector.

Series 6 of the McFarlane Halo action figures has been recently released. Dubbed the “Medal Edition” the set comprises new weapons, characters, and a set of 10 collectible medals. It also debuts the Halo 3 Rookie figure.

The “Rookie” is a six-inch, fully-poseable action figure. It dons a suit of segmented armor similar to the Master Chief’s Mjolnir outfit, albeit in various shades of gray than green. The figure has numerous points of articulation in the neck, shoulders, biceps, elbows, wrists, waist, thighs, knees, and ankles; and is incredibly detailed for a figure of its scale. It also comes with a detachable rifle.

The Spartan Recon Armor makes its first appearance in the toy line, along with retooled versions of the Spartan Eva, Elite Assault, Grunt, and Elite Shipmaster figures.

Best Batman Action Figure

The Mattel Batman Dark Knight Action Cape Figure, the most recent installment in the movie series, is possibly the most commercially and critically acclaimed Batman movie. Detailed action figures were part of the merchandising for The Dark Knight, as with any successful franchise. However, the best Batman action figure from the movie was not a depiction of Batman himself, but rather his archenemy, The Joker, played by the late Heath Ledger.

Batman: The Dark Knight – The Joker with Crime Scene Evidence

Good attention to detail is apparent at first glance, with the figure’s gloves, coat, shoes, and other items of clothing executed well in terms of texture. The folds in the necktie and shirt collar, and the creases in the pants and vest are convincing, although the plastic used for his coat can limit the toy’s range of movement. The colors are mostly movie accurate as well, except for the undershirt being in a different color from the actual movie character’s.

Is it the best Batman action figure?

The head is recognizable as Ledger’s Joker, although the likeness is not as precise. The sculpting of the green hair is decent, although upon closer inspection, the figure’s Glasgow grin departs from the Joker’s grotesque appearance in the movie. The movie Joker has keloidal scars at the sides of his mouth, while the figure sports ‘cleaner’ cuts.

The paint job from the neck up is up for contention, as some collectors say that the paint seems shoddy, while others say it lends verisimilitude to the figure based on the smudged visage of Ledger’s Joker. Overall, the detail is good for the figure’s size. However, the limited articulation is disappointingly similar to figures from years ago, with only a few joints on the entire toy, including those for the elbow, upper legs, and knees.

The Joker with Crime Scene Evidence figure comes in an attractive blister card pack, with a see-through cutout showing the new Batman logo. The best Batman action figure also comes with a collectible Joker card, evidence bag, and weapon accessory (a sinister fillet knife which fits snugly into the figure’s left hand).
