By the time Johnny is 2, he has the ability to form images in his mind, and organize his toys in a variety of compatible ways. His memory is getting better and he may even be able to recount some of his adventures of the day to mom as she’s laying him down for the night.  As a toddler, he is a quite spirited, so you will need toys that channel that energy, as well as those that challenge him.

When looking for the top toys for 2 year olds, consider what he has liked during the previous and upgrade. Balls are a favorite of most children and now that he is most likely managing targeting his throws you might want use balls that are more firm.  Toddler basketball hoops or soccer nets are a good choice for these children.

At two, you will notice he is responding more enthusiastically to music.  He will be dancing, clapping, spinning, hopping, even shouting.  Go ahead and pick out some percussive toy instruments to add to the enthusiasm. Constructing Lego cars, planes and buildings, towns and farms will hold their fascination, and encourages interaction between parents and toddlers.  Who can resist getting down the floor and creating a small Lego universe.

With the intention of increasing your child’s dexterity skills, puzzles and other manipulative toys are top on the list. He likes to stack, unstuck, stack again, so toys that nestle inside one another are suggested, as well as large 4 or 5 piece puzzles. For all kids, dolls that you can dress and undress using laces, snaps and buckles will help them learn to dress themselves.
