How to Find the Best Toys – 5 to 8 years old

When seeking out the best toys for children 5 to 8 years old, some of the rules change.  Now you may not be looking to buy toys that encourage eye to hand coordination, or that encourage learning development.  You most likely will just be buying those that are fun and desired by the child.

Trying to buy some of these toys can turn into frustration and disappointment when they are quite popular and the stores become sold out. If you are in a hurry and looking for something to replace the most desired toy, you may need to step back and take the following things into consideration.

A child’s personality and interests could be clues to what they might want. You would probably know your little daughter will not want play makeup if she’s a tomboy.  Likewise, your son may not want trucks or cars if he’s an artist at heart, and would prefer art supplies

The child’s age and development are also important in order to find the best and most appropriate toys. Fortunately, in most instances, toy packaging suggests a recommended age group. Still, adults are tempted to buy out of the range suggested, and this is a mistake.

A 5 year old may be able to properly play with a toy suggest for 6 years and up, individual judgment should be used in these cases. There are exceptions to this rule in the case of mentally or physically challenged children, of course, and these factors should be taken into consideration.
