It was definitely a different era for toys. While I usually think Star Wars started franchising items for movies, I guess there was the Shirley Temple doll before that even.

Top Toys in 2009

With the holiday season drawing near, parents may be wondering what toys to give their children. This article will discuss some of the most popular toys that are designed to fill the hearts of children with delight.

One of the top toys for 2009 is the Lego Agents Mobile Command Center, which is made up of boats, ATVs, and jets that are used to protect the Lego Secret Agent Headquarters from the dastard designs of Dr. Inferno. Construction sets are indeed well loved by children and Lego is definitely one of the best. There are also other construction sets that stimulate the kids’ creativity while ensuring that they are having fun. These include K’Nex, Playmobil, Trio, and Uberstix.

There are also a variety of board games, such as Cranium Cariboo, Ticket to Ride, Blokus, Candy Land Castle, and The Settlers of Catan. Cranium Cariboo is ideal for the short attention spans of kids as they learn about number, shapes, colors and letters. In Ticket to Ride, the players imagine riding a train across the country.

Blokus is a game of strategy that hones the kids’ capability for spatial thinking through the use of simple rules and bright colors. The goal of the game is to be the first one to be able to put all of the pieces together. Candy Land Castle is for kids who are three to six years old. The goal is to be the first to get to Candy Castle by traveling across Candy Land by drawing cards and then following the instructions on the card.
