The more well known the brand name, the more likely the toy will be of good quality.

When seeking out the toys you wish to purchase for those young children in your life there are a few common sense rules to follow.  If you are going to purchase for an infant through 2 year old age, you need to remember that they are “mouthers”.  Part of exploring the world around them is the sense of taste, and testing to see if the object is edible.

Try not to buy anything for them that is smaller than their fist.  This will help to avoid swallowing and choking on small parts. Another common sense rule is to check how the toys are made, if they are painted or use colored molded plastic.  You want to avoid lead based paints.

You will want to make sure the toys you choose for young children are engaging. Any toy that assists in teaching are good toys.  The earlier they learn colors, letters and numbers, as well as identifying objects, animals and people, the more advanced their education will be when they start school.
